Secluded Villa in Djerba: 4 Truly Private Pools, No Overlooking

You arrive with your family. You open the gate. You step into your villa, walk through the living room, and there is the pool. No one can see you. No neighboring rooftop looking down. No window across the way. No hotel balcony ten meters away. That is what we mean, at our place, by a secluded villa in Djerba with a fully private pool.

Ethic Village Djerba is a private family residence made up of four standalone villas in Tezdaine, a sought-after neighborhood of Midoun whose name means “the palm trees” in Berber. Each villa has its own secluded pool, its own high walls and mature green screens. This guide explains what those words actually cover.

“Truly private” — what does it really mean?

Many listings use the phrase. For a family choosing Djerba for its privacy, this is not a decorative detail: it shapes whether you can truly enjoy your stay. Here are four concrete situations where the promise either holds up or falls apart.

1. Women and children can swim without a veil

This is the first reason our families choose a villa over a hotel. In a hotel pool, modesty calls for compromises: burkini under the sun, very early morning swims, or simply giving up. In a halal-friendly villa with a truly secluded pool, mothers and daughters get back the freedom to swim in swimsuits, away from prying eyes. For many of our travelers, this is what tips the decision to travel.

2. Morning coffee on the terrace, with no eyes on you

Privacy does not stop at the pool. It plays out at breakfast served on the terrace, during an afternoon nap on a sun lounger, in long evening conversations. When a neighboring roof looks down on the villa, privacy disappears. Our four villas are designed so those moments stay yours, and yours alone.

3. The pass-through hatch, a tool that has become essential

So we never have to interrupt your stay, every villa has a pass-through hatch: we drop off what you asked for (a snack, a meal, supplies…), a notification pops up on your phone or on the villa tablet, and that is it. No contact needed, no doorbell, your privacy and your quiet are preserved.

Why a truly secluded villa is rare on Djerba

Djerba is an island, and its land is precious. The traditional architecture — the Berber menzels ringed by their ochre walls — already protected family privacy, a privacy that local families have always seen as something worth preserving — a heritage recognized through Djerba’s inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage list. But the tourism boom of recent decades has pushed densification: villas built wall to wall, extra floors added, dominant terraces, hotels and resorts creeping closer to residential neighborhoods.

The result: the “villa with private pool” promise is everywhere, but real seclusion is hard to find. At Ethic Village Djerba, the initial choice of land and the very design of the residence placed this privacy at the heart of the project, and you can feel it.

How Ethic Village Djerba delivers full seclusion

Four concrete elements, easy to verify on arrival at the Diamant villa as well as at the Saphir villa, the Opale villa or the Jade villa:

  • High perimeter walls, well above the height of a standing adult, around every villa — sometimes more than 5m where it was needed.
  • Mature green screens: palm trees, olive trees and bougainvilleas in the ground, planted long enough ago to form a real year-round screen.
  • Full single-story design across the four villas: no upper floor looks down on a neighboring villa, and no high window opens onto the pool next door.
  • A quiet residential neighborhood, Tezdaine, set apart from the main hotel strips, where the surrounding buildings stay low and family-scale.

For Muslim families in particular, these choices pair with other day-to-day comforts: two mosques within walking distance — Troujette mosque 5 minutes away and Khalid Ibn Al Walid 10 minutes away — a fully equipped kitchen for preparing your own meals, and the option to add villa services for an extra fee (meals, a cook, housekeeping, grocery runs).
