Autumn (September – November): the “sweet spot” for savvy travellers
If you had to pick just one period, autumn would be our number one recommendation. September and October combine all the advantages without any of the drawbacks: the sea is still warm (24-26°C), daytime temperatures remain summery (25-33°C), tourists have gone home, and prices drop back to mid-season levels.
Djerbian autumn means:
- The warmest sea of the year: the water accumulated during summer takes time to cool down. In October, you can still swim in 24°C water.
- Nearly empty beaches: the large beaches like Sidi Mahrez or Aghir regain their tranquillity. It’s the time to rent a bike and ride along the coastline without meeting anyone.
- The date harvest: from late September to November, the Midoun markets overflow with fresh dates. A sight and flavour not to be missed.

Winter in Djerba has nothing to do with a Nordic winter. While swimming in the sea is not recommended (15°C), sunny days at 17-20°C allow you to walk around in a t-shirt, have lunch on the terrace and enjoy the pool (heated pool at Villa Diamant only, at extra cost) in absolute calm. It is the favourite season of retirees, digital nomads and families who want to “unplug” without breaking the bank.

Yes, overall. December in Djerba is much milder than in most European countries. Temperatures range between 9°C at night and 18°C during the day, with many sunny days. There are on average 6 to 8 hours of daily sunshine. A few rainy days are possible, but rainy periods are short and spaced out. For outdoor activities — cultural visits, bike rides, terrace lunches — December is perfectly pleasant. However, swimming in the sea is not recommended (the water drops to 15-17°C).
