Anyone who has stayed in Djerba may have experienced water and electricity outages during their stay, which can last from a few hours most of the time to a few days very rarely!
When you’re not used to it, it can be frustrating to come on holiday and find yourself without water, or without electricity, or worst of all, both at the same time. Djerba is an island and is no exception — it is often difficult to supply an island with both water and electricity continuously, especially during peak periods like July and August when the island’s population increases tenfold.

As happened last summer during peak rental season, this impacted our guests’ satisfaction, so we invested to address this situation, just as hotels do.
The water solution
A 30m3 underground water tank ready for use.

How does it work? As soon as an outage is detected by our guests or by us, we switch the water source that feeds the villas directly in a utility room outside the villas, so that we don’t need to access the interior of villas that may be rented. And thanks to a booster pump, the water pressure in the taps remains intact.
The electricity solution
A generator ready to go.
How does it work? Installed in the same utility room, it allows us to switch the electrical supply without entering the villas. Note that only certain equipment is backed up by this secondary source — namely the entire interior of the villas except for air conditioning. So you’ll have to make do with fans during power outages to cool down. We have also installed emergency lighting blocks that will turn on automatically so you won’t be in complete darkness if an outage occurs at night.
At the same time, we installed solar panels to have the cleanest energy source possible — they should be operational in the coming days, insha’Allah.
Regarding tap water, since its quality is not always ideal, we have connected one of the two available taps in each villa’s kitchen, easily identifiable, to an underground basin where we collected rainwater during the sparse rainfall that Djerba receives throughout the year. This water is much purer than that from the national water distribution network (SONEDE), which for Djerba largely comes from desalinated seawater.
We look forward to welcoming you in the best possible conditions!
