Why we do it anyway
Because our families come with children. And a child running barefoot on grass beside the pool, in a walled garden — that is a moment of simple joy worth every litre of water. The lawn is part of the Ethic Village Djerba experience: a green setting that contrasts with the island’s aridity and brings a genuine feeling of freshness.
Our eco-responsible approach
Lawns use water — that is a fact. But we have put concrete measures in place to minimise the impact:
- Pool water recovery — dechlorinated water is reused for garden irrigation
- Timed irrigation — outside peak heat hours, to limit evaporation
- No chemical pesticides — natural fertilisers only
- Solar energy — for pool water heating
In Islam, the concept of khalifah — mankind as custodian of the earth — reminds us that every resource has value. We do not waste. We steward.
