The hotel pool problem
Picture a typical hotel pool scene: rows of sun loungers packed together, strangers everywhere, and absolutely zero privacy. For families who value modesty and personal space, this is far from the relaxing holiday experience they deserve. That is exactly why we created Ethic Village Djerba — a place where the pool is yours and yours alone, not overlooked from anywhere.

Our four villas — Diamant, Saphir, Opale and Jade — each have their own private swimming pool that is not overlooked, framed by high walls and privacy screens within a Mediterranean garden. No neighbour looking down on the water, no outside eyes. You are at home, in Tezdaine — a sought-after area of Midoun (meaning “the palm trees” in Berber).
Swim freely, dress as you wish
For many of our guests, the freedom to swim in burkini or modest swimwear without feeling watched is a top priority. Even so-called “private” hotel pools are often visible from neighbouring balconies or shared with other guests. At Ethic Village Djerba, this concern simply does not exist: every villa is designed from the architect’s plan upward so the pool stays invisible from the outside.
Every villa features a fully enclosed garden, built from day one to guarantee complete privacy. Mothers can swim with their children in total peace, while fathers fire up the barbecue just a few steps away. That freedom of movement — without having to adjust a swim outfit or scan for a nearby balcony — is what our families most often cite as the concrete difference with a hotel stay.
This desire for privacy is simply a family value: the quiet dignity our grandparents took for granted. It does not belong to any one community, but mass tourism has made it hard to find. A private villa brings it back, no questions asked. For more detail, see Tunisian National Tourist Office (ONTT).
Four pools, four different vibes
Each pool was designed for a specific use. Here is what sets them apart:
- Villa Diamant (8 × 5 m, infinity edge) — the most complete setup: infinity pool, 4-seat jacuzzi, paddling pool for children. Optional heating for off-season stays — real comfort from March to November.
- Villa Saphir (12 × 3 m, lap pool) — a full 12 metres built for serious swimmers. Waterfall and bubble paddling pool for the little ones.
- Villa Opale (8 × 3 m) — family pool with a suspended swing, set in a 400 m² bohemian-chic garden.
- Villa Jade (8 × 3 m) — family pool with an indoor lane extension, in a natural stone setting on 400 m².
For larger families or groups of friends, Diamant and Saphir connect via an interior door, as do Opale and Jade. You double the living space without losing the privacy of each individual pool.
A safer environment for children
A private pool is also about safety. No crowding, no unknown children running around the pool edge, no reckless diving from overexcited holidaymakers. You know every single person near the water, and you can watch your little ones with complete peace of mind.
Our pools are family-sized: large enough for fun, but manageable enough for parents to keep an eye on the youngest swimmers. And when the children are tired, the villa is just steps away for a well-deserved nap — no lift, no hotel corridor, no key card to find.
Evening moments by the water
One of the simplest pleasures of a villa holiday is the evening by the pool. The children play in the garden, soft lights reflect on the water, and you share a mint tea with your family. No hotel entertainment blaring, no forced shows — just you and your loved ones, under the stars of Djerba.
We have furnished comfortable outdoor spaces in every villa — garden sofas, shaded dining areas, sun loungers — so those moments are as enjoyable as possible. And because our residence is strictly alcohol-free, the atmosphere stays calm and family-friendly well into the evening.
The real comparison: villa vs hotel
Hotels have their perks — room service, buffets, entertainment. But when it comes to privacy and freedom for families, a private villa wins every time. Here is what you actually gain:
- 100% private pool, accessible 24/7, never shared
- Fully secluded walled garden — high walls and privacy screens by design
- Complete freedom of dress — swim exactly as you wish
- Secure family space — no strangers around your children
- Absolute calm — no animation, no imposed schedule, no alcohol
- Halal meals included — complimentary breakfast and welcome meal on arrival
And all of this from just €110 per night (Villa Opale or Jade, low season, breakfast included). For a family, it is often cheaper than a comparable hotel — with no compromise on your values.
