October and November for two: half board on us

Car rental in Djerba: delivered to your address, no deposit

Villa Jade — Terrasse, Façade | Ethic Village Djerba

Car rental in Djerba without the queue at the counter or a deposit held on your card: with our service, the car is delivered to the address of your choice, your villa for instance, with unlimited mileage and a price shown before you book. From there, the potters’ villages of Guellala, the murals of Erriadh, the beaches in the south of the island and the harbour at Ajim are yours to explore at your own pace, with no waiting for a taxi and no haggling over every ride.

A car makes the most sense for a stay of several days, as a family or a couple, when you want to explore the island. For a very short stay, or if you mostly plan to enjoy your accommodation’s secluded pool, a few one-off trips are often enough. Would you rather not drive at all? A transfer from Djerba airport takes you straight to your door.

Airport desk or delivery to your villa: what really changes

At the desk: the wait, the deposit and the extras

The best-known option is still the rental desk at the airport. You probably know how it goes: a queue after your flight, a deposit held on your credit card, an excess you often only discover on the spot, and extras offered just as you sign (second driver, full tank). None of this is unusual, but the final price sometimes only becomes clear once the keys are in your hand.

Delivered to your villa, keys handed over on site

With us, the car comes to you, at the address you give (your villa, for example). If you prefer to collect it yourself, it can wait for you at our partner’s office instead. The keys are handed over on site, and the return works the same way when you leave. The car can also be delivered to the airport when you land: just send us your flight number. The daily price is shown before you book.

Car rental in Djerba with a local partner: what’s included

The cars are supplied by a partner rental company based in Djerba. You book through us, on our Ethic Village Djerba car rental page. It is open to all travellers, whether you are staying in one of our villas or elsewhere on the island.

What the terms cover

  • No deposit: nothing is held on your card when you collect the keys.
  • Unlimited mileage: drive as much as you like.
  • Damage: repairs are the renter’s responsibility.
  • Fuel: the cars run on petrol, like most rental cars in Tunisia.
  • Driver: a minimum age applies, shown when you book. Once your booking is confirmed, each driver, main and second alike, sends a scan of their driving licence and passport online (a national ID card (CIN) is enough for Tunisian residents).
  • Second driver: you can add one; they provide the same documents as the main driver, licence and passport or national ID card.

Free cancellation, automatic confirmation

You can cancel free of charge, by writing to us, up to 7 days before the car is due to be handed over. Any request made at least 7 days ahead of that date is confirmed automatically, so there is nothing to chase. After that, our team confirms your request personally.

A minimum rental period, depending on the season

A minimum rental period applies. It is longer in high season than in low and mid season, and it is shown when you book, before you confirm anything.

Which car for which stay?

The car categories available for your car rental in Djerba differ mainly in how much room they offer. Prices are per day and vary with the season. Automatic transmission is available on some models.

  • City car: compact and easy to park, for a couple or a small family getting around the island.
  • Saloon: more luggage space and more comfort on longer drives.
  • SUV: a higher driving position, handy on the dirt tracks leading to some beaches.
  • People carrier: designed for large families who want to travel in a single vehicle.

Driving in Djerba: practical tips

The island is easy to get around, with flat roads that stay quiet outside the towns. A few local habits are worth knowing before you set off. To plan your stops, our interactive map of Djerba shows the main sights.

  • Roundabouts set the rhythm of the traffic. Take them calmly and keep an eye out for scooters weaving through.
  • Speed: stick to the posted limits, in town and on country roads alike.
  • Parking in Houmt Souk takes a little patience at busy times, especially on market days. Your best bet is to park on the edge of the centre and walk the rest.

  • Fuel: petrol stations are spread across the island. Fill up before a long trip to the south or off the island.
  • Leaving the island: the Roman causeway links Djerba to the mainland towards Zarzis, and the Ajim ferry, known locally as the battah, is the other way across. Ahmed Redissi, founder of Ethic Village Djerba, says: “I’ve often spotted dolphins during the crossing.”
  • At night, some roads are poorly lit. Slow down: goats, sheep and carts still share the road at any hour.

No. There is no deposit, so nothing is held on your card when you collect the keys.

Where is the car delivered?
